Winter Weather!

Benson is our hard working kid. He loves to be outside working expecially with his dad. When he woke up to snow, the first thing he wanted to do was put on his snow clothes and go shovel the driveway. I tried to get him to wait until the wind quit but he had to get out there.

He was still out there when it got dark and finally Kade decided he wanted to help. They are out on our back deck trying to knock the snow off.
They played in it as much and they worked. I bought them the snow shovel's a couple of years ago and they have been the best investment we have ever made. Expecially since they were only $5.00 a piece.

Porter just watched out the window. He has been sick so I made him stay inside until he got over it. Everyone knows how hard life can be when the babies get sick.

With all the snow falling I don't think they are getting much accomplished but at least they burned off some energy, something these guys have a lot of.

Christmas Tree Hunting

Every year after Thanksgiving we load the kids up in the truck and head up to the mountains to find our Christmas Tree. This was a tradition in Jordan's family and now we have made it one in ours. We went up to Birch Creek with Tra, Andrea and the girls along with Jake and Savannah. We unloaded the 4-wheelers and headed up in the canyon where there are actually christmas trees.
Porter made us pack him all over the mountain. He refused to walk with his snow clothes on so Jordan and I really got our exercise. He finally went to sleep after getting so tired. He sure had a hard day.

We hiked all over the mountain to find the perfect tree for the boys. This is the one they picked out. Jordan chopped it down and dragged it down the mountain. We thought it was a keeper. It wasn't to cold expecially after hiking. The boys were really good troopers, of course Porter is finally sleeping in the truck.

Popcorn Lover!!!

I thought this picture was so cute of Porter. All my kids love popcorn but we can't give it to Porter fast enough. One night all the kids were down stairs watching a movie and I let them take some popcorn down to eat. Porter kept coming back up stairs for more. This is him making his way back downstairs but ended up dumping the bowl on the stairs. He was trying to pick it up and put it back in his bowl but couldn't resist eating it in the mean while. He didn't even realize that I was watching him until I took this picture.

Basketball-Basketball-Basketball

Here is Kade trying to do some tricks, He keeps asking us to get him a basketball hoop so he can play at home.

So we finally broke down and bought him a basketball hoop now the only problem is Jordan has to figure out how to put it together. If anyone knows Jordan he hates reading instructions.

So he finally decided to read the instructions and with some help from my Brother-n-law Tra they have the hoop almost put together.

The end results... Kade and Ben were so excited to start playing basketball. I think Kade was outside playing for two days straight. We finally had to make him come in when it got dark. Now the newness has worn off some and he dosen't play as much.

Veteran's Day!!!

Kade came home from school yesterday and he was supposed to write a letter to one of our Veteran's. He did such a good job on it I had to post his letter. I am so glad that they had an assembly at school so he could witness what Veteran's Day is all about. I am so grateful for our country and the men and women who serve so we can be free.

Tumbling Class...

We decided that Kade and Benson needed something to keep them busy through the winter so we put them both in a tumbling class. They seem like they really enjoy it. Kade has an easier time with it than Benson. Here is Kade, I can't even tell you what he is doing. I think it might be a hand stand.

Here are the kids stretching, Benson likes to pull faces and act like a dork. I think he does it mostly when I am around so I decided to start working out a little bit while they are in class. I'm sure most of you remember the Rigby Physical Fitness Center. I have been going there to exercise while they are in class, it works out for all of us.

Boo at the Zoo...

Boo at the Zoo is sort of a tradition we take the kids to every year. They love the zoo and are always asking us to take them. So whats better getting a treat while looking at all the animals. We always try to get in and out before it gets dark. With so many people its hard to keep track of your kids expecially in costumes. From left to right we have DreAna, Brynlee, Shellie Scott, Porter, Alexa, Kade, Allie Scott, and Benson.

We had a trunk or treat at our church on Halloween night but I didn't get any pictures of it. Since our ward is pretty spread out it's hard for the kids to trick or treat. There was a really good turn out and the kids ended up getting so much candy.

"Hunting with Dad and Jake"

Jordan and Jake Kidd have been good friends since High School. I don't think we have seen Jake since his wedding. Last week he gave Jordan a call and remembered that Jordan's favorite thing to do this time of year is hunt. So they decided to spend a few days together in the mountains and hunt. The kids and I decided to take a trip one day to see them. Well Jordan decided they needed to do an evening hunt and him and Jake would take Kade and Benson along, while Porter and I stayed back at the trailer. They hiked for quite awhile and we actually didn't think Benson would make it. They finally decided to take a rest and when they did not even a minute later a herd of Elk come wondering about 100 yards in front of them. Jordan saw them that morning and new where they were. When the boys spotted them they froze. Jordan shot and down he went. They saw him gut it and they hauled it back to camp. The boys were so excited. When Benson explains it all he can remember is that he saw dad cutt it's butt out. Kade has been begging us to let him take the horns for show-n -tell at school. We keep telling him you can't take horns to school and he just says, "my teacher says we can take anything we are excited about." Maybe once Kade brings horns to school she will refrase that.

I will be Drug Free!!!

When Kade got home from school yesterday, he brought me this essay that he wrote in class about being drug free. He said that his essay won along with four other kids in his class, so tomarrow he would have to read it in front of the whole school during a Drug Free Assembly.


I actually couldn't believe he wrote this on his own, so I asked his teacher when I went to the school today. She said that he did it all by himself. He has a word dictonary that he used to spell some of the words.

Carving Pumpkins.......

Jordan decided it was time to carve the pumpkins that the kids picked at my grandpa's. I think Kade begged us for 2 weeks to get over there to get his pumpkin, so one night I finally decided to take the boys. Of course Porter dosen't really care about which one is his and what it looks like.

Kade had to draw the faces on before dad started to carve the pumpkins, except he drew the lines to small so you can see them on the face of the pumpkins. Kade and Benson were so excited to finally have faces on them.

While dad is carving the pumpkins Kade was collecting all the seeds so he can grow his own pumpkins(or so he thinks). I think Jordan had to go back over the faces a few times to get them exactly the way they wanted them. The one thing about Kade and Benson someone always has to have the better one. So when Jordan made sharp teeth on Kade's pumpkin Benson had to have sharp teeth. So that went on for awhile. Jordan didn't even get frustrated like I sometimes do. Hopefully they will get over being so competitive one day.

Cousins trip to Rabbit Valley....

Tony and Steph decided to come visit from Utah for the weekend, so we needed to find something to keep all the kids busy so they wouldn't fight or drive all the adults crazy. Grandma and Grandpa decided to take them on a ride out to Rabbit Valley. It's acutally not far behind Dave and Terri's house. So we loaded them all up on the motorcycles and 4-wheelers for our short journey. Here is a picture of the boys (Kade, Benson, Joel and Seth) who found a coyote hole. They kept climbing inside pretending they were wild animals.

We decided to take a little hike up this mountain, here is the bunch except Steph and I because we were taking the pictures.

We hooked the garden wagon to the back of the 4-wheeler for the babies to ride in. They loved it. McKayla and Seth are making sure Porter and Tyler don't fall out.

Porter was just contend playing in the rocks while all the kids ran around. Soon Tyler wanted to know what Porter was up to so he and Mckayla decided to come play.

Thanks Moser for all your help with the boys. They love it when you guys come to visit. We always look forward to the next visit.

Aren't kids so cute!!

I finally gave Porter his first official haircutt. I have trimed it with the sissors before. I actually struggled on using the clippers because he has alot of natural curl (which I loved). It finally got to wear it needed a buzz. This is wear I did the hair cutting, in the bathroom while he played in the sink and water. Doesn't he look so cute.

All Porter could consontrate on is me putting the clippers away, he got annoyed pretty fast. As soon as I put them away he started to smile. Not bad for no help while he moved and pushed the whole time.

Okay, The kids found a snake on the road the other day and of course my sister had to pick it up and show everyone that it wouldn't hurt them. So for a couple of days we kept it in a 5 gallon bucket in our garage. Kade begged us to take him to Petco and buy it some pinkies to eat. If you all don't know what pinkies are, they are new born mice without hair. He wanted to keep them in our freezer and feed the snake one everyday.

Well, Kade could not convince me of that so we told him the snake would die if we didn't let it go. So here are all the kids saying there goodbyes. Kade named it Henry. If anyone has seen the movie Flicka thats where he got the name.

Benson hanging with dad....

Benson has wanted to spend alot of time with his dad. When Jordan had to go out and combine we would pack Benson a lunch to take along and they would head off to work together. One day Jordan had to run into Scotty's True Value for some parts. Well, there was this young girl who had a really low cutt shirt on. She was coming out of the isle and stopped to let Jordan pass and Benson was trailing behind. All the sudden Jordan hears Benson say really loud "Dad I Saw that Girls BOOBS." Jordan wanted to run in the next isle and hide.
I think it's funny that Jordan gets a taste of what I experience all the time. I swear, Benson sure know's how to speak his mind. But if I was that girl in a low cutt shirt and a 4 year old said that about me, I would probably be the one that was embarressed. Maybe it taught her to wear more modest clothing because everyone is watching.

New Survivor Series....

I read this on my friend Am's blog and I loved it. I decided that I needed to share it also.

Six married men will be dropped on an island with one car and 3 kids each for six weeks.

Each kid will play two sports and either take music or dance classes.

There is no fast food. Each man must take care of his 3 kids; keep his assigned house clean, correct all homework, and complete science projects, cook, do laundry, and pay a list of 'pretend' bills with not enough money.

In addition, each man will have to budget in money for groceries each week.

Each man must remember the birthdays of all their friends and relatives, and send cards out on time--no emailing.

Each man must also take each child to a doctor's appointment, a dentist appointment and a haircut appointment.

He must make one unscheduled and inconvienient visit per child to the urgent care.

He must also make cookies or cupcakes for a social function.

Each man will be responsible for decorating his own assigned house, planting flowers outside and keeping it presentable at all times.

The men will only have access to television when the kids are asleep and all chores are done.

The men must shave their legs, wear makeup daily, adorn himself with jewelry, wear uncomfortable yet stylish shoes, keep fingernails polished and eyebrows groomed.

During one of the six weeks, the men will have to endure severe abdominal cramps, back aches, and have extreme, unexplained moon swings but never once complain or slow down from other duties.

They must attend weekly school meetings, church, and find time at least once to spend the afternoon at the park or a similar setting.

They will need to read a book to the kids each night and in the morning, feed them, dress them, brush their teeth and comb their hair by 7:00 am.

A test will be given at the end of the six weeks, and each father will be required to know all of the following information: each child's birthday, height, weight, shoe size, clothes size and doctor's name. Also the child's weight at birth, length, time of birth, and length of labor, each child's favorite color, middle name, favorite snack, favorite song, favorite drink, favorite toy, biggest fear and what they want to be when they grow up.

The kids vote them off the island based on performance. The last man wins only if....he still has enough energy to be intimate with his spouse at a moment's notice.

If the last man does win, he can play the game over and over and over again for the next 18-25 years eventually earning the right To Be Called Mother!

This made my day I would give anything to have this really happen to husbands for 6 weeks. Thanks Am for the post.

The Combining Season!!

I finally got some pictures of harvest season. Thanks Michelle for taking these pictures.

Jordan, Riley and Scott Stoker (along with alot more employees) have been running these combines nonstop since the end of July. They are finally on there last leg of getting all the grain harvested.
These pictures are on our farm. The light was fading fast but I think they turned out really well. All together there are three combines and a grain cart.
Along with the guys spending about all there time running these machines Michelle, Misty and I have spent long hours taking the crew dinner everynight. If they needed help moving we ended up with headers hooked to the back of our Yukon's. I guess they have wife's for a reason. Ha Ha
The grain cart is not in this picture but I love how they lined up all the machines with the augers out for a group picture.

Sundays!!!

Has anyone ever gone to church on Sunday and wondered why they even bothered?
I have those days often expecially since Jordan was put in the bishopric about a year ago.
This last Sunday was probably one of the most challenging.
The day started pretty good Jordan made us all breakfast to start our day, which was so yummy, then off to church he went two hours before we have to be. We use to listen to church music on Sunday Mornings before church but since Jordan hasn't been around I have had to keep the kids (Porter) occupied with pretty much everything(which makes my house trashed before church) so he won't be in the bathroom while I'm getting ready. I think Kade and Benson fought all morning about everything and top it off Porter was so tired and ready for a nap before we even headed out the door. I just thought how am I going to do this? I made the kids all gather around in the living room for a quick prayer for guidance and so we could all have a soften heart towards eachother while attending church.
We usually can get through passing of the sacrament, but after things usually don't go as planned. First Porter was so fussy and would not quit climbing all over me and Benson wanted to go and sit with his cousins and he was so mad that he kept repeating "I hate church" really loud so that everyone could hear. In the mean time Kade started freaking out because his tooth popped out and was bleeding all over. I had to get up and take care of him and a nice elderly lady offered to help but Porter nor Benson would give her the time of day which I was in desperate need of.
I often wonder how some people get the kids who will sit and I mean sit still the whole hour of sacrament. Is there a secret out there? What am I doing wrong? Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make sacrament meeting more meaning full for me and my kids?

1st day of Preschool!!!

Benson couldn't wait to start preschool again. It's his second year going and he absolutely loves his two teachers Mrs Jana and Mrs Joan.
When we drop our kids off the teachers are waiting for the kids on the corner because there isn't enough parking for all the parents to pull up at the school. So they have this rope that they made for all the kids to hold on to so they can be safe walking back to the school.

Things Kids Say

I had to put on my blog some of the things my kids said this week. They are always saying funny things but I always forget to write about it and then I forget.

The other day Benson was in the bathtub and he was yelling for me to get him out. I told him that he needed to hurry and wash his body so I could help him wash his hair. His reply was "I I Captain." I guess I need to be less demanding all the time.

Jordan has been thrashing grain for a while now and if the boys want to spend any time with him, I take them to ride on the combine with him for awhile. Well yesterday Benson wanted to ride with Jordan so I took him there. There was this guy who drives one of the trucks that hauls the grain. He jumped up on the combine to talk to Jordan and when he saw Benson he said " hey buddy how are you today" Benson's reply "I wish you would brush your teeth" Jordan about died when he said that. When the guy finally left Jordan had to explain to him that we need to be polite to other people and that would make him feel bad. He also said that's why mom and dad make you brush and floss your teeth every day so they don't look like that when you get big.

My Aunt died from a long battle of breast cancer and they had her funeral in Alpine Utah which we were not able to attend. But they had her burried here in Idaho and we were able to go. We took the boys to the grave side ceremony so they never were able to see her in the casket. While we were there they had a few speakers and a musical number. Kade was so patient and reverent and the next minute he leans up to my sister Andrea and says "Andrea when are they going to open that big treasure chest." Andrea couldn't help but chuckle because of how innocent and serious he was. Then she explained to him what was really going on and who was in the casket. I think it was funny that he thought every one was gathered around to find out what was in the big treasure chest.

First Grade here I come!!

Kade was so excited to start school that he had me up at 3 AM asking if he needed to get ready for school. I told him to go back to bed that I have the alarm set for 7:00 and when it goes off we will get ready. So he finally went back to bed. But was still up at 6:00 when Porter woke up. That makes for a long day for him. Hopefully the whole wheat pancakes that dad made him will make up for the lack of sleep.

I remember when I was in grade school that my mom would take me and walk me to my class, but he is so brave and pretty much knows everyone at school he wanted to ride the bus.

I had to get a picture of Kade getting off the bus after school. I was so excited to hear how is first day went that I met him at the end of our driveway to take a picture. It is actually sad that he goes to school all day now. It sure makes for a long day without him, that I miss him.

His teacher is Mrs. Surerus. She is in our ward at church and I know he will do well in her class. She challenges the kids and works with them alot. She sends homework home everynight and really wants the parents involvement.

I can't believe how much he has grown up. He is such a big boy now.
